Biography and Engineering Approach

My undergraduate education in Forest Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) instilled in me the discipline of analyzing complex natural systems through data, geographic information systems (GIS), and long-term sustainability principles. Since 2019, I have served within Kastamonu Municipality, first as Advisor to the Mayor and Media Coordinator, then as IT Manager and R&D Manager; today I coordinate the institution's open-source software ecosystem and its GitHub organization.

In software and systems architecture, I embrace the principles of digital sovereignty, zero telemetry leakage, and deterministic performance rather than black-box dependencies. Around the Arch Linux-based Omarchy desktop ecosystem, I develop native tools with Rust, Slint, and QML (OmaStudio, PolyCodex, QuickNews), and I design OPNsense, FQ_CoDel SQM, and multi-WAN topologies in enterprise networks.

In my time away from the screen, I document Kastamonu and the Western Black Sea region's nail-free wooden mosques, kündekâri woodwork, canyon geomorphology, and dark-sky areas with the Fujifilm GFX medium format system. I transparently publish the raw telemetry of my entire photo and text archive on the Open Data page.

Architectural Focus Areas

01 // NETWORK AND SECURITY ARCHITECTURE

OPNsense, Zero Trust, and Low-Latency Networks

I design enterprise and local network architectures with multi-WAN load balancing, bufferbloat elimination via FQ_CoDel Smart Queue Management (SQM), RFC 1918 VLAN segmentation, Unbound DNSSEC/DoT hardening, and HANCORE process isolation standards.

02 // SYSTEMS AND DESKTOP ENGINEERING

Arch Linux, the Omarchy Ecosystem, and Rust Tools

For the Omarchy desktop environment running on Wayland/Hyprland and Quickshell, I develop native applications based on Rust, Slint, and QML: OmaStudio (medium format RAW processing), PolyCodex, QuickNews, and handheld console (Steam Deck) kernel optimizations.

03 // MULTI-MODEL AI COUNCIL AND EDGE COMPUTING

12-Member AI Orchestration and Cloudflare Workers AI

I carry out software production, security auditing, and data analysis with a 12-member multi-model council (Claude Code, Gemini Argon, Codex, J-Code, OpenCode). I run web applications in a fully autonomous edge architecture with Cloudflare Workers AI, MCP, RFC 9727 API Catalog, and llms.txt standards.

04 // MEDIUM FORMAT DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY

Architectural Heritage and Natural Light Documentation with Fujifilm GFX

With the Fujifilm GFX medium format (44×33 mm sensor) system, I document the UNESCO-listed nail-free wooden mosques (Mahmutbey Mosque), kündekâri craftsmanship, canyon ecosystems, and the night sky of Ilgaz Mountain in Kastamonu and the Western Black Sea region.

Engineering education in natural resource planning, watershed management, biostatistics, geographic information systems (GIS) and mathematical modeling of complex ecosystems.

Technologies Used on This Site

Only what actually works today

This site runs on a single Cloudflare Worker. Posts, albums, projects and page texts are stored in a database; adding new content does not require rebuilding the site. The source code is in a private GitHub repository.

Interface

Astro 7
Generates pages on the server at request time. The browser receives ready-made HTML; JavaScript loads only in the parts that need it.
Svelte 5
Interactive parts: gallery viewer, search dialog, theme button, mobile menu, project explorer and Open Data charts.
TypeScript
Worker, server and component code are written with type checking.
Tailwind CSS 4
Page layout and colors. Light and dark themes are driven by the same color variables.
LayerCake
Scale and axis layout for the charts on the Open Data page.
Lucide
Interface icons; embedded in the page as SVG, no separate file is downloaded.

Font and Typography

JetBrains Mono Nerd Font
The site's only typeface (Nerd Fonts 3.5.1, based on JetBrains Mono 2.304, OFL licensed). 16 subsets are served from the site's own server; no external service such as Google Fonts is used.
Subset WOFF2 files
Text subsets are small files separate from the icons (about 80 KB each). Thanks to unicode-range, the icon file downloads only if the page contains an icon.
Weight scheme
Headings are bold, body text is regular; true italics are used, and ligatures are enabled only in code blocks.

Hosting and Edge Server

Cloudflare Workers
A single Worker handles all requests: page generation, redirects, security headers and API endpoints.
Workers Static Assets
Fonts, icons, compiled scripts and stylesheets are served from Cloudflare's static file layer.
Cache API
Generated pages are kept in the Cloudflare cache. The cache key includes the deployment number and content version; when new content is added, the old page refreshes automatically.
Cloudflare DNS and TLS
Domain name, HTTPS certificate and redirect from the www address to ozanozdil.com.
Workers AI
Machine translation of posts into English, German and French. The model runs only in a scheduled job that runs every ten minutes, for new or changed posts; visitor requests never run the model. Translations are stored in the database and marked on the page as machine translation.

Data and Storage

Cloudflare D1
SQLite-based database. Posts, albums, projects, page texts, open data sets, content version and error logs live here.
Cloudflare R2
Object storage. Album photos and open data files are kept in one bucket, and nightly backups in a separate, private bucket.
Workers KV
Read and view counters plus weekly summaries.

Images

Cloudflare Images
Photos are resized on request to fixed widths (between 320 and 1920 pixels). AVIF is sent if the browser supports it, otherwise WebP; the result stays in the cache.
Blurred preview
Until the photo loads, a very small, blurred version appears in its place.
sharp and exif-reader
When an album is added, it converts photos to WebP, generates thumbnails and reads EXIF data (camera, lens, exposure). This runs during upload, not on the site.

Deployment and Development

GitHub
The source code is kept in a private repository. The main branch is the live site itself.
Workers Builds
On every push to the main branch, Cloudflare builds and deploys the site.
Wrangler
Cloudflare's command-line tool for database migrations, secrets and Worker settings.
Content tool
The npm run icerik command writes posts, albums, page text and datasets directly to D1 and R2 without requiring a build.
Node.js test runner
Worker tests and a check that server code does not leak into browser bundles.

Monitoring and Backup

Nightly backup
A scheduled task (Cron Trigger) compresses D1 content and KV counters every night at 03.17 and writes them to the backup bucket in R2.
Weekly summary
Every Monday at 09.00, the previous week's figures are posted to the Open Data page and sent by email.
Watchdog Worker
A separate Worker checks the site externally every five minutes. It sends an email on outages and when server errors (5xx) increase.
Error logging
JavaScript errors that occur in the browser are written to D1 without using cookies.
Workers Observability
Worker logs and request traces.
Cloudflare email sending
Alert and summary emails are sent from within the Worker via the send_email binding.

Privacy and Security

No tracking cookies
No cookies are used to identify or track visitors. Theme preference stays only in the browser's own storage.
No third-party scripts
No advertising, analytics or tracking scripts are loaded. Counters are kept in the site's own Worker and are publicly available on the Open Data page.
Click-to-load YouTube
Videos in posts are loaded via youtube-nocookie.com and only when the play button is pressed.
Security headers
Content Security Policy (CSP) and Permissions Policy; access such as camera, microphone and location is disabled.

For Readers and Search Engines

RSS
New posts can be followed at /rss.xml.
Sitemaps
Separate sitemaps for pages and images update automatically as content changes.
schema.org (JSON-LD)
Person, post and page information is provided as structured data that search engines can read.
llms.txt
A plain-text summary of the site for AI answer engines.
Web app manifest
The site can be added to the phone's home screen and opened like an app.
